簡素 — Kanso

Simplicity is a discipline, not a look.

Kanso Contract started as a small furniture workshop supplying a handful of Singapore interior studios who wanted pieces that could hold a room without decorating it. "Kanso" (簡素) is the design principle behind that instinct — considered simplicity, where every element earns its place and nothing is added for its own sake.

We now supply furniture, lighting and outdoor pieces to interior design firms, architecture practices and hospitality operators across Singapore and the wider region — but the brief hasn't changed. Every piece in the catalogue is designed to be specified with confidence: stated dimensions, stated lead times, and a construction detail that holds up under daily commercial use, not just a photograph.

We work directly with a small group of workshop partners across Southeast Asia, each chosen for a specific craft — solid timber joinery, upholstery, metal fabrication, stone finishing. That keeps the supply chain short enough that a trade account manager can give you a real answer on lead time, not a guess.

Materials & craft

Solid materials, finished to be used.

We specify solid timber over veneer wherever a piece allows it, and where veneer is the right technical choice — a long sideboard run, a wide table top — we use it over an engineered core with solid edging, never a printed laminate. Joinery is visible rather than hidden: a mitred frame, a through-tenon, a stitched seam. If a finish can't survive daily commercial contact, food service or outdoor weather, it doesn't go in the catalogue.

Quality & sourcing

A note on where the material comes from.

Solid timber across the catalogue is sourced from FSC-certified suppliers, and every teak piece specified for outdoor use is rated for uncovered exposure rather than adapted from an indoor design. We'd rather sell fewer finishes made well than a wide range made thin — every product ships with a documented care guide, and structural components are covered by a five-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
